The first step is finding a great Ginger Beer. You want one that's not too sweet because too much sugar hides the ginger flavor. I have been on a quest for quality Ginger Beer in Atlanta. I am a ginger snob. I eat fresh, shaved ginger by itself. Yeah. I know it's weird, but it's delicious. It's also extremely healthy! Ginger has been known to relieve nausea, headaches, sore throats, coughs, and menstrual cramps. YOU drink a warm cup of ginger tea with a hint of honey and just try to tell me that you don't feel amazing afterwards. That's right. You can't.
- 1.5 ounces Vodka (I like Cathead Vodka b/c a percentage of their profits go to "local foundations who support live music, genuine arts and southern heritage"....and it's delicious)
- 1/2 cup High Quality Ginger Beer (I prefer Fever Tree)
- Several Limes
Mix the vodka and ginger beer into a copper mug or iced glass. Squeeze a lime wedge (or 2) over the mixture and drop the wedge into the glass. Stir to bring all the flavors together and add ice. Optional: Garnish with fresh mint leaves.
Mobile Mule: Substitute light rum for the vodka
London Mule: Substitute gin for the vodka
Now, go put your feet up, turn on How I Met Your Mother, and sip your Moscow Mule while congratulating yourself for being so fancy!
