Have a lovely long weekend...
Also, I caught the Macarons bug again. For a while I felt like I was making them every weekend, but I became super discouraged with the outcome. While delicious, I could never seem to get the presentation 100% correct, so I took a break from macaronnage. However, when the lovely ladies from A Beautiful Mess released a Macarons crash course I couldn't resist. Tonight I will attempt Almond Macarons with a Chocolate Orange Ganache filling. I also want to tackle those pretty Grapefruit Pistachio Macarons pictured above. Check out the Macarons crash course from A Beautiful Mess here and some pretty Parisian inspiration here.
I hope you have a lovely, sunny, and relaxing long weekend. Here are some things that caught my fancy recently:
Ever since I made these paper flowers for Abby's rehearsal bouquet I have been drooling over this art form. Check out how beautiful and intricate these flowers from Paper to Petal are.
For my theatre peers: Why You Didn't Get Cast, from the perspective of someone on the other side of the table.
Check out this Power Link Tassel for the working girl on the go! This pretty key chain contains both a Micro USB and USB connectors so you can charge your devices while out and about.
Recently, I have majorly craved power veggies on the regular. I think I've had kale every day this week. This Healthy Hippie Bowl with homemade tahini sauce from Clementine sounds heavenly!
How to Be More Creative
We'll definitely have to check out Leopold's Ice Cream while in Savannah, which was opened almost 100 years ago in 1919. They have Guiness and Lavender ice cream flavors!!
Did you know that J. R. R. Tolkien (my favorite author) wrote and illustrated a little-known children's book called Mr. Bliss. The main character in the story, Mr. Bliss, has a penchant for tall hats and "girabbits", which are animals with a giraffe head and rabbit body. I'm not sure how the physics of that would work out, but I definitely want to get my hands on a copy.
